It's nice to see the book industry stepping up.
There are so many things people need to do to help decrease our carbon footprint, but making all the steps do-able and fun, is probably the only way people will be inspired to take action. As a writer and editor, I think a lot about the impact of the publishing industry on deforestation. I think Kedzie is really inspiring. There are so many ways to for everyone to contribute, but the best way is through your passionate about, to start working from a place that you know. Designers can design greener products, businesses can ship with recycled boxes, bakeries can buy fair trade butter and sugar, etc. We don't all have to take a "green living 101" to start making a difference.
This is the kind of initiative that should be presented at a big event like the Art Center Global Dialogues (http://blog.globaldialogues.eu/) to drum up publicity. I work for Art Center as an editor, but won't be able to attend the event in Barcelona. I think Kedzie would be a great example of proactive thinking about climate change and green action. I hope that there is some representation of companies like Kedzie, either speaking or attending. You can also find more info about it at http://www.artcenter.edu/dialogues/.
