Is Clean Energy a lost cause with record high Oil Prices?
How quickly everyone forgets the Oil Crisis of 1973! Here we are again as oil consumers, bowing to OAPEC and the Arab nations. Will the environment pay the price?

Tasmanian Devil To Be Endangered
Austrailia is planning on making the Tasmanian Devil endangered this week due to an outbreak of contagious cancer.

We Need A US President Who is An Environmentalist
I wish one of the political candidates running for US presidential fame was an environmentalist. I feel like in this day and age that we could use a forward looking President, similar to the way Teddy Roosevelt was in his time.

New Site For Green Job Postings
Greenopolis.com has now added a new job board that lists tons of green jobs. Jobs must fit into the "green" field by using one of these keywords: Sustainable, eco, green, environmental, water treatment, geologist, waste water, recycle, organic, agriculture, wellness, holistic, or vegan jobs.
One example of an excellent job showing on the jobs board

Gardening for wildlife
As summer approaches I've been debating what kind of garden to have this year. Last year I tilled a small portion of my backyard and planted all kinds of plants, but was only able to grow some tomatoes. I was doing some research about gardening and came across the National Wildlife Federation's "Garden For Wildlife" section of their website.

Primo Eco Friendly Water Bottle
The reason plastic water bottles are bad for the environment is because they are made from a petroleum based plastic that is taken from derivatives of crude oil & natural gasses. We all know that by conserving natural resources we are lessening the amount of use, and therefore conserving the rare natural resources that can take millions of years to regenerate. The Primo bottled water bottles water in a more eco-friendly bottle that is made from Ingeo(TM) natural plastic. This is the self proclaimed first and only performance plastic that is made form 100% renewable resources.

So much trash in the snow...
Now that the snow has pretty much all melted on the side of the roads, all the trash that people have thrown in it all winter long is now visible. Today on the way to work I noticed the state of NH highway department has already started collecting it and bagging it on the I-93 which I think is great. I think this weekend I might take a walk around my neighborhood and pick up all the soggy trash I see.

New Hampshire Growing Square Trees!
I was totally fooled by this April Fools joke that NHPR and The Society For the Protection of New Hampshire Forest pulled the other day. I started off by writing this blog post...

Have you ever tried quitting smoking?
I know a lot of people are concerned about the affects smoking has on their health, others' heath and the environment. I thought it would be good to have a little thread about what other people have gone through when quitting smoking. I quit about 3 years ago, and it took me about 2 years of trying to quit before it finally stuck...

Western Dust & Smog Dust
I heard a story today on NPR about how railroads, livestock and other human causes have increased the amount of dust out west by 500%. This makes perfect sense, and is probably not healthy for the environment, or people breathing this dusty air. When I lived in Los Angeles, however, the dust was not an issue (unless we were out camping and a dust storm kicked up), but the smog dust that would cover my apartment after only a few days of leaving my window open.

Natalie Portman Selling Vegan Shoes
Natalie Portman has created a new line of women's shoes that are made entirely synthetic materials, and are not made from any animal parts. Many of the shoes are made out of fake leather, and 100% of the profits are going to The Nature Conservancy.
The new shoes feature pumps and among others and cost around $250. Natalie said her love for animals and the environment is led her to work with the Te Casan design team to produce the new line of shoes.

Sad Day For Us Meat Eaters...
In an article by EARTH TALK- From the Editors of E/The Environmental Magazine they discuss a number of reasons that eating meat is extremely bad for the environment. I am an avid meat eater, and can't think of a life without it, but these claims are pretty strong.
