Group critical of wind farms

Opponents demand investigation into wind farms
Wind farm opponents have called on Steuben County District Attorney John Tunney to investigate their wide-ranging allegations against a county agency, municipalities and individual officials. The Franklin County District Attorney’s office is conducting a grand jury investigation into wind farm-related abuses, and Delaware County is also investigating alleged criminal activity.

Prattsburgh supervisor accused of profiting off vote to seize land for turbines by Jack Jones
Under fire over accusations he and other town and county officials have endorsed generous tax breaks and cut sweetheart deals ‘with the Massachusetts-based UPC Corp. wind farm developer, Prattsburgh Supervisor Harold McConnell faces further criticism following a vote last week to condemn and seize private land for the project.

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo April 27, 2008 Letter by James Hall
Cohocton Wind Watch does not oppose alternative energy projects when done correctly. However, when the Enron wind industry model continually misrepresents economic projections, sufficient wind resources and verifiable electric production evidence, the only rational conclusion is that they are perpetrating a massive fraud on New York State and the taxpayers.

Damaged roads from UPC Wind Project Cohocton, NY - Part II
Proof that UPC has compromised a Cohocton Planning Board member who voted for the UPC " Special Use" Permits. Now he is employed by the Mortenson general contractor on the UPC Wind Cohocton Project, while remaining a Cohocton Planning Board member.

Cohocton Town Board April 15, 2008 Letter by James Hall
The incident of a clear violation of the road agreement with UPC took place on Saturday April 12, 2008 on Moore Road. A transport flat bed trailer hauling a tower section for the UPC industrial wind project has been parked and abandoned in the low part of the gully on the south side of Moore Road. As you are well aware the portable display signs that state NO CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC have been positioned on Moore Road near the intersection of Pine Hill Road.

Citizen Power Alliance April 9, 2008 Letter to U.S. Senators - S. 2821, the Clean Energy Act
Citizen Power Alliance strongly opposes the inclusion of industrial wind subsidy in this bill. Extension of the investment tax credit (ITC) and providing incentives for an inefficient technology will only cause a further tax burden on the public. The following points are compelling:

"Common Sense Gone as we're "s-WIND-led" again!" by Mary Kay Barton
In reality, these scams were actually quite sophisticated. Most people were taken in by a series of very clever, well-planned tricks and stunts used by these medicine peddlers. The larger traveling shows employed advance men to work the area before they actually arrived in town. (Sound familiar?)

PSC Public Hearing on Iberdrola take over of Energy East February 21, 2008 Letter by James Hall
Iberdrola seeks to force this kind of marginal technology, at best, upon every hamlet and hillside in a reprehensible attempt to produce a superior stock holder return on equity. How does the NY consumer benefit from such a plot to defraud the ratepayer? The threats of eminent domain have been heard at every corner of our state.

Important Limitations of Electricity from Wind Energy
First, wind turbines have little or no “capacity valueâ€; i.e., they are unlikely to be producing electricity at the time of peak electricity demand.· Second, a kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity from a wind turbine has less value than a kWh of electricity from a reliable (“dispatchableâ€) generating unit

Who's behind it?
When you understand that wind energy does not work on a "utility-scale", the next questions are "Why are they doing it?" and ultimately "Who is behind it?" Simply put, it's a corporate tax-avoidance scam, put in place by investment banking lobbyists, energy industry lobbyists, and the late Ken Lay and his Enron Wind subsidiary.

Impact of Article X siting on NYS Local Governments in Rural Counties - Senator George H. Winner
Two bills (Senate 5908 and Assembly 8697) have been introduced in the state Legislature to re-authorize Article X of the Public Service Law that governs the siting of major electric generating facilities. Although not specifically mentioned anywhere in the proposed legislation, wind farm projects that meet certain kilowatt threshold capacities shown below would also be included in the siting review process along with power plants.

SCIDA Application Discrepancies, Resolution and Removal of Code Enforcement Officer 01/23/08
For SCIDA to approve this PILOT before the court hears the cases would be injudicious. If Mr. Sherron's assertion is correct (CWW disagrees with his interpretation) that SCIDA can lawfully approve PILOT's after construction has started, there should be no immediate or compelling need to authorize the PILOT for either UPC Prattsburgh or Cohocton Projects, at this time and with tax exemptions purported.

Cohocton Code Enforcement Officer January 22, 2008 Letter by James Hall
As part of your official duties and responsibilities, your office requires that certification be achieved within the first year of your employment. According to NYS Department of State – Division of Code Enforcement and Administrationhttp://www.dos.state.ny.us/CODE/ls-codes.html you are not listed as having a certified license. The Town Clerk needs to have your certification verification available for inspection.
