The federal government has made a significant investment in Suncor Energy's ethanol plant in Sarnia.  Ottawa has provided an additional $25 million to Suncor to help out with their $120 million plant expansion which will double ethanol production to 400 million litres. 

Boyd Rutherford, Assistant Secretary for Administration, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is interviewed about the Bio-Preferred Program which mandates federal government procure renewable, bio-based products where possible. The government hopes to expand the program to certify consumer products as "bio-preferred" as well.

Conservation groups are backing the state in their quest for tighter emissions standards.
