A great report on the California Public Utility Commission hearings into the Sunrise Powerlink from Utility Consumers Action Network's Michael Shames. He points out that this proposed transmission line will cost ratepayers a lot of money and isn't really about renewable energy.

A video showing that SDG&E's true purpose in proposing the Sunrise Powerlink, a 150-mile transmission line through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and San Diego's rural communities, is to bring fossil-fuel power north from Mexico. Rather than bringing renewable power from Imperial Valley, the line will mainly be used as a link to get the fossil-fuel power to Los Angeles.
