I shop in bulk all the time because it saves me tons of money. I buy large quantities of foods and household items that I use all the time to save money and reduce the number of times I have to take a trip to the store.

High crop prices, if sustained, could have a number of spillover effects, on conservation programs to organic farming.
Anecdotal evidence suggests soaring prices for conventional crops could slow the movement toward organic farming.
U.S. growers, who must meet stringent guidelines to be certified organic, have done so for both environmental reasons and the fact that organic crops sell at a premium. With conventional commodity prices so high, some growers may delay switching to organic production.

Selecting the Safest Meat
As 27 people in eight states have fallen ill from E. coli exposure after eating Topp Meat's hamburger, the company has issued a recall of 21.7 million pounds of frozen ground beef products.
Topp advises consumers who've purchased Topp's hamburger burgers to discard them or return them to the store for a full refund.

Is the choice now between saving the planet or saving developing nations? What a ghastly dilemma to be faced with, but one that we may all soon have to make.
Carbon footprinting has become the call from environmentalists and climate conservationists. The idea is to label all imported food indicating the carbon footprint it leaves behind in getting to the supermarket.
Some prefer to call it "airmiles" to indicate the most likely method of transport used to ensure the fresh produce on sale is what it is claimed to be - fresh.

They are free of conventional pesticides and fertilizers.
The USDA makes no claims that organically grown food is safer or more nutritious.
But, author Dr. Andrew Weil believes new research will prove otherwise,"organically-grown fruits and vegetables experience more stress from insect predators and in response to that they produce higher levels of these defensive compounds which also are of benefit to us when we take them into our bodies."
