A new publication from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) documents the continued growth in campus sustainability efforts across the US and Canada.  AASHE Digest 2007 offers a comprehensive review of campus sustainability efforts from 2007. The 230-page report includes over 800 stories about higher education institutions leading the way to a sustainable future.

Working with award-winning filmmakers (Sea Studios Foundation) and animation studio (LAIKA/house) the Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard Medical School produced a 10-minute film that reconnects its audience to the importance of the marine environment for all life on Earth, including human life.

March will mean more than the start of Spring in DUMBO. SEED, the new sustainability initiative in this Brooklyn neighborhood — aka Smart Environmental Efforts in DUMBO — is getting right to business with a couple of green events coming up: Oil Drum Art on 3/20 and How to Green Your Kid on 3/24.

While education deserves notice from political candidates and the general public, not one issue within this topic touches on the environment or "green" education. Instead, the focuses are on the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), teacher funding, gang control, and whether or not evolution is valid. Keith Schillo, from the Central Kentucky Green Party, suggests that many problems within the U.S. educational system could be resolved by changing the role of the student from a passive observer to an active participant in the real world.
