Some U.S. government employees are in really hot water, and not the jacuzzi-shaped kind they’d like it to be. According to three reports delivered to Congress today, a $5.3 million investigation uncovered “a culture of ethical failure” amongst the Interior Department. The department’s inspector general - Earl E. Devaney - found that over a dozen current and former employees had engaged in such transgressions.

Shell gets in Greenwashing trouble for ad
n August the UK's Advertising Standards Authority ruled that Shell had misled the public by branding it's Canadian oil sands operation as "sustainable" in an Financial Times advert in February.
The ad that was the target of the WWF and the ASA was carried in the Financial Times February 1st and accompanied Shell's financial results. The company claimed: "We invest today's profits in tomorrow's solutions." Shell explained it was harnessing its technical expertise "to unlock the potential of the vast Canadian oil sands deposits".
Furfural May Be the Future of Easy and Cheap Biofuels
Researchers at the University of California, Davis have developed an easy, efficient and inexpensive method for transforming raw plant material directly into a fuel called furfural without any additional acid processing or fermentation. Furfural can be substituted for diesel.

Shell’s two year tenure as sponsor of the Natural History Museum’s ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ exhibition has come to an end. A determined, creative two year national campaign, coordinated in part by the direct action group Rising Tide and its Art Not Oil campaign, helped to force the NHM to ditch Shell.

Greenwash Guerrillas tackle major greenwash leakage at Shell HQ
On 3rd January 2008, at about lunch time, the LRT Greenwash Guerrillas discovered a major source of greenwash at Shell HQ in Waterloo, London. The Guerrillas entered the lobby for an inspection but were so repelled by the Greenwash that they had to leave (the security assisting their escape).
