When a real live freecycle was organised and promoted in Thornbury no one knew quite what to expect. The day was a fabulous success with people bringing unwanted goods for others to take away. Just think what this saved in landfill. Lets hope this will be repeated in other towns.

Give It Away - Take IT Away - Freecycle in Action!

Zilok Launches in UK
Zilok is like eBay for lending. Instead of buying a lawnmower, exercise bike or ice cream maker, and only using it twice a year, you can search for the things you need and hire them from people near you. Or you can rent out the lawnmower, exercise bike or ice cream maker you bought and never use, to recoup some of the cost. It saves the planet because instead of buying un-used junk, we can all share it instead.

Consume only if you need it - Sharing - Lending - Renting
We have already a huge phanomenon here in Germany. More and more people are renting stuff on a need basis rather than buying it. This means you don't need to own everything, you can rent it as soon as you need it.
People are constantly buying things, which they need only on very few occassions. In order to make most use of each items, you can share, lend or rent it out. It becomes even popular to rent out bikes in big cities, so tourists and visitors are able to bike within a city. People can earn a little bit of money and help others fulfilling their needs.
