The Solar Hooch takes treehouses to a new level (I could't resist). Imagine a backyard treehouse that not only collects solar heat for a comfortable sleep out on the coldest night, but also uses photo-voltaics to collect an excess of electricity- which is pumped back into the grid to make that less than carbon neutral urban home a little more Earth friendly. This tree house was built over a period of three years from salvaged materials which otherwise would have gone to waste in landfills. It’s a retreat surrounded by wildlife and fresh air; but sadly it’s now threatened by the authorities who have ordered it to be torn down.
