A green school aims to enhance and protect the surroundings. Staff and students work together on projects within the school and in the local community, hoping to reduce waste, water and energy consumption and pollution, and increase biodiversity. A green school uses 60 percent less energy than a conventional building, 70 percent less water and the air inside is clean and safe to breathe.

People should use Freecycle instead of throwing things out.
With blue, grey and an upcoming green bin in the works, Kingston is still lagging behind other communities. Regarding E-Waste, the city has done little by means of colleciton, and their plans are less than stellar for the near future. Get with the times Kingston!

Re Tread Products Inc. (RTP) is researching the commercial development of a new building material made from recycled tires called the "Tire Log". The Tire Log is a patented innovation made from waste tires with a unique and energy efficient approach to recycling tires. RTP recycling method is based on a simple procedure that helically wraps the steel belted tread of the tire around a core of tire treads to essentially any length or diameter. The net result is a building material that engineers say could revolutionize flood control, earthquake survivability and homeland security.
