The ERCO Worldwide chlor-alkali plant in Port Edwards, Wisconsin, has decided to convert to mercury-free technology. The conversion will completely eliminate mercury emissions from the facility, reducing Wisconsin’s state emissions by 28 percent. This move follows the recent release of a report by Oceana, which concluded that not only was the mercury-cell technology costly to the environment and public health, but it was also costing the company financially as well.
